This trail is a bit more challenging with a strenuous climb up some stairs leading up to a spectacular lookout overlooking Cache Lake. At the top is the site of a former fire tower. At the Visitor’s Centre you will see a replica of a fire tower. The landscape is varied and includes boardwalks, waterfalls, an old railway bridge, view of Cache Lake, and of a coniferous and deciduous forest.
This trail also has an optional 5.5 km loop that leads you on the old railway bed to the Highland Backpacking Trail, an old airfield, and Mew Lake Campground. If you wish to add this look to your hike, we recommend that someone meet you at the Mew Lake parking lot to pick you up.
Dogs are allowed on this trail but must be kept leashed.
